FASHION WEEK BY BERNS RECEIVES A ROYAL INAUGURATION
On Monday, 26th of January 2009, the seventh Fashion Week by Berns will open. As Swedish fashion continues to garner global acclaim, Berns Salonger is honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine to inaugurate the week. The Royal Protectorship started last season and lasts through 2012.
"Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine’s keen interest in nurturing Swedish culture and the arts has led her to Fashion Week by Berns. We are extremely gracious for the support of the Princess and appreciate her ambassadorship, which we know will directly highlight emerging Swedish designers at home and abroad", says Yvonne Sörensen Björud, Managing Director of Berns Salonger.

The collections are sure to invoke and inspire as Berns features the first Danish design houses of Islaet, Bertoni and Wood Wood and welcomes back Acne, Carin Wester, Cheap Monday, Diana Orving, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Hope, Ida Sjöstedt, Minimarket. The Local Firm, Tiger of Sweden, Whyred and the Max Factor Award Show. Newcomers to Berns include J.Lindeberg, Rodebjer,,Mercedes-Benz Young Fashion Industry Award Winner Nhu Duong, Säby and Sofifi.

The new partnership with +46 will bring Anna-Sara Dåvik, Julian Red, Rickard Lindqvist and the Copenhagen design collective Wood Wood to Fashion Week by Berns for the first time. Furthermore, students from Beckmans College of Design will show their own unique collections focusing on knitting and knitwear.

Max Factor and Mercedes-Benz return to further support the program with exciting developments. Mercedes will unveil a large, tented show space in nearby Kungsträdgården. The third of its kind in the world, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Pavillion will feature runway shows and special events beginning 23d January. In addition, the Blue Room by Telenor will open at Berns to host candid interviews, between key journalists and the industry, broadcast live all week throughout Stockholm City.


"A schedule that features presentations ranging from Acne and J.Lindeberg to the +46 showcase is very promising. This season we are presenting international stars alongside strong newcomers.
