Born on August 3, 1990 this 20 yr. old, from London,England - British Fashion Model Jourdan Dunn has been named as the new face of Burberry shot by Photographer Mario Testino at the Brighton Beach(the best place to wear your spring Burberry leather pants, you know ) for the Spring Burberry Ads.

She has been with her boyfriend, the baby's father, for five years. After giving birth to her first child a little over a year ago, Jourdan Dunn made a gradual return to fashion. Having appeared in every issue of American Vogue since September, and becoming a spring face of Burberry.

Campaign was shot on Brighton beach to celebrate the great British outdoors and Burberry's history of supporting emerging talent bringing to life the emotion behind protection from the elements. The Glamour of Bollywood@Geneva, Switzerland by Pria Kataria Puri

This latest collection features jewelled tones like pearl whites, beige, ruby reds, deep blues, jade and rich emerald in luxurious chiffons and silks. The embellishments are very subtle with onus on styling and detailing. Digital prints of jewellery that the late Maharani Gayatri Devi wore form the centre of attraction. These have been inspired from Pria’s sojourns at Royal Palaces in Rajasthan!

We’re all familiar by now with the age-old wisdom that compassion and caring are key parts of the art of living. Similarly, the cuisine of any culture is often seen as art influencing and sustaining life. And fashion can quite fairly be described as a living art, giving elegance and grace to the everyday business of living, working and loving.

A new initiative in Geneva, Switzerland, last week combined all of these elements in what can only be called
The Art Of Giving.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, under the guidance of Princess Francoise Sturdza, president of The Heart For India Foundation, hosted a series of stunning events that offered lucky guests the tastes of Indian cuisine and the sights of resplendent Indian fashion in a unique fundraising gala.Bombay based beautiful designer Pria Kataaria Puri, whose gorgeous, diaphanous gowns, robes ,kaftans, saris and dresses grace an extensive client list from newyork, paris, millan,Kuwait, dubai to Mumbai brought the textures and colours of India to the warm oak-lined ballroom and plush carpets of the Mandarin Oriental.

Geneva’s winter frosted the windows with a breath of snow, but inside there was the lavish splendour of Rajput palaces, and the romance of desert caravans.

For three nights,
"The Glamour of Bollywood" combined with the ancient sensual beauty of Indian tradition in a series of Pria Kataaria Puri fashion events at the Mandarin Oriental. The first event, named the Rajputana Rhapsody, captured the glorious, bejewelled radiance of the robes and dresses of the Rajput Princesses of Northern India.

The second event, named the Arabian Nights Caravan, took excited guests on a journey through the rich textures, fine embroideries and dazzling gold and silver trim on sleeves and hems that define the mysterious allure of the desert.

The third night, called the Jeans & Glam Jam, hurled the guests into the brilliant, vivacious sophistication of modern Bombay life and society: vibrant, feisty, elegant and free-spirited.

All of the garments presented in the three events were designed exclusively by Pria Kataaria Puri who is also the new Ambasodor for Heart for India foundation,. The European models from Milan were specially selected for the event by Princess Francoise and Pria, and showed that the unique, ravishing designs created by this Indian artist are truly universal in their appeal.

The delicacies of Indian cuisine were created and offered by the Mandarin Oriental’s dedicated restaurant, Rasoi by Vineet, recognized and rewarded with a glittering Star in the Michelin Guide. Opened in June 2008 after a multi-million Swiss Franc renovation of the hotel’s public areas,Rasoi by Vineet offers the cuisine of London-based Michelin starred chef, Vineet Bhatia, who specialises in deliciously spectacular “evolved” Indian food.

The restaurant’s award winning Head Chef, Anupam Bannerjee, has more than 15 years of culinary experience in some of the world’s top kitchens. Before joining Rasoi by Vineet in Geneva, Chef Anupam spent time in London’s sister restaurant Rasoi, working closely with Vineet to immerse himself fully in Maestro Bhatia’s distinctive “evolved Indian cuisine”. The traditional and modern Indian dishes prepared by Chef Anupam Banerjee added an extra dimension to the series of special fashion events. Nothing gives a sense of place more immediacy than the smells and tastes that are unique to it.

To complement the journeys of the three nights, Chef Anupam selected some of his favourite Indian dishes from the whole spectrum of Indian cuisine, and created several signature dishes exclusively for the guests.

Although the events in themselves offered spectacular sights of beauty and creative design, a selection of the finest Indian foods, and an ambience dedicated to enhance the entire journey of the senses, the purpose driving the initiative was to raise money for children in need.

The Indian children supported by The Heart For India Foundation include abandoned girls, who reside at the girls’ orphanages called Girls Town One and Girls Town Two, and the thousands of children in the model school at Nanmangalam, South India.

To that end, the events were so successful, and the sums raised were so impressive, that the initiative is already being planned for a return to beautiful Geneva city, next year.

SAR La Princess Lea de belgique, SAR La princesses Marie Gabrielle de Savoie, Princess Christine Sturdza, are few Royalties specially coming to attend the show along with many other European dignitaries from world of finance, fashion, banking, art, hospitality ,opera, and films!

As Pria Kataaria Puri said, during the events:
“We wanted to host a series of events that showed our passion for the causes we support ,as much as our passion for the indian art and creativity of glamorous cutting edge design, and we wanted the event to be fun for everyone who attended, and who donated so generously.”
Princess Francoise, nodding in agreement, added that: “Events such as these, that show the pleasures of being involved with creative people in a good cause, have the power to make giving fashionable, and to show us the true art of giving. - GREGORY ROBERT DAVID -SHANTARAM

A true salute to the fine art of fashion designing that is closely related after all to the world of all things artistic & giving!

Pria’s versatile wearable and glamorous collection is loved by Indians and Foreigners world over as she truly believes that fashion is global! She is passionate about promoting Indian art and culture with a modern twist. Be it the Kashmir Ki Kali, Bombay Glam or the Royal Rajputana Collections, all have been sported by celebrities like Madonna, Paris Hilton, etc.

14 oz. Catalogue

14 oz. Berlin presents the new 14 oz. Catalogue with strong product focus

The new publication presents season-spanning classics and originals as well as selected product highlights of the current collections

With the new 14 oz. Catalogue, 14 oz. offers its customers a timeless, season-spanning source of information. The 224 pages of the new publication are focussed on long-living products and classics forming the basis of the 14 oz. brand portfolio. Apart from that, selected highlights from the current collections are presented.

The labels available at 14 oz. reflect a pronounced value consciousness for outstanding quality, handmade products and authentic style, which is what makes them such unique originals. Here, the product always takes centre stage: 14 oz. offers customers and connoisseurs choice wardrobe staples that will accompany them for a long time to come.

In the past spring, 14 oz. booklets were already published. In each of them, one selected brand presented its timeless, season-spanning product variety. This concept’s successful basic idea was adapted for the 14 oz. Catalogue and consequently transferred to the whole 14 oz. product portfolio. The result: a high quality publication with a strong product focus, offering a great variety of information and inspiration to be non-seasonally drawn on by the reader.

The reader is offered detailed information on classics, originals and product highlights in German and English. The strong product focus is mirrored in the prominent presentation of product stills in high quality photographs. Each brand presentation is rounded off by information on the availability of styles, colours, sizes, retail prices and the country of manufacture as well as by condensed brand features. All presented products are available at 14 oz. Furthermore, 14 oz. and BREAD & BUTTER employees present individual, urban looks and styles – the atmospheric spreads were shot at 14 oz. and its Four Seasons Garden as well as at the 14 oz. second floor.

Karl-Heinz Müller, owner and managing director 14 oz.: “Not only long-lasting products and excellent quality, but also high-quality publications offering a timeless source of information to our customers take centre stage at 14 oz. Following the success of the 14 oz. publications published in the past that were enthusiastically received by both customers and brands, it was only a logical step to focus on the extraordinary products available at 14 oz. Not only do we want to offer our customers a timeless wardrobe, but we also want to accompany them informatively throughout numerous seasons.”

In 1993, the shareholders of Hermès International, all descendants from Emile Hermès, decided to enlist the company on the Paris stock exchange.

This decision was made with two objectives in mind :

The Grunge Begum collection by Suhani Pittie>The British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur Award programme

Showcasing India’s Creativity to UK Royalty

At an exclusive event organised for Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Earl of Wessex at their recent visit to Jodhpur, the British Council showcased some of India’s promising creative designers. Suhani Pittie, one of the designers selected by the British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur Award programme, put up a spectacular show at the royal palace, in the presence of the UK royalty and the Maharajah and Maharani of Jodhpur and invited guests.

The Grunge Begum collection by Suhani Pittie reflected the free spirited traditionalist, who belongs in a conventional environment but with a wandering mind. She wears her values like a badge but strings them in her own textures. Old coins, "kasalperu", temple jewellery, traditional jhumkas came free from their traditional canvases and were infused with exposed zippers, steel, copper silver and chains. Their Royal Highnesses acclaimed the design skills of the designer and the creative efforts being made in the Indian fashion industry.

“The event was one of the highlights of my career. It was a privilege to have showcased to such an erudite audience and to interact with their Royal Highnesses. I am eternally grateful to the British Council for having provided me with this rare and honourable opportunity”, says Suhani.

The British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur Award programme, aims to develop a powerful professional network between creative entrepreneurs in India, UK and internationally. It is an organized and tangible platform to acknowledge India’s creative entrepreneurial talent. A network that inspires and facilitates the sharing of best practices, builds skills, provides access to resources and market, offers professional development opportunities, mentoring, and increases opportunities for business. Till date 763 entrepreneurs have been through the award programme and there are numerous successes that highlight the collaborative links that the programme has been able to achieve.

The other designers to showcase in Jodhpur include Sanjay Garg (Raw Mango), Samant Chauhan (Samant Chauhan) and Nandita Atal Bose (Burnt Sienna).

Democrazy@Tarun Tahiliani's Finale Show @Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week@Delhi 27th Oct'2010

The New Democrazy - Spring Summer 2011

It’s a new direction and a fresh start! Consider the rich democracy of our textiles, prints, fabric, weaves and colour. This collection is a crazy adventure to explore the myriad ways with which we can combine these resources to create new forms of design.

Swatches of India, old and new, unfurl with each drape combining the conventional in an unconventional way. There is a focus on textured handloom and daytime silhouettes. Saris, dresses and goddess caftans pin tuck and twine as if they have a mind of their own. Rules get rewritten with ensembles that have gilets thrown over Kutchi kediyus. The latticing on a tunic leads to an unexpected cache of mother-of- pearl on sheer net. Bandhini appliqué and chikankari find equal footing. Simple Naada gets woven into web, while fine block printing provides surface relief. It’s the creative mix of all these elements that gives the collection such an innovative edge.

A creamy tableau of colour has shades of sand, ivory, beige, ecru, taupe and charcoal, with accents of pale pumpkin and shell. Supporting this narrative are swatches of voile, silk chiffons and georgette and chamois satin. Muslin and khadi fuse into malka; a new light, breathable fabric for a new spring.

The collection has its origins steeped across the country. The various colours of its soil and dust, which are as varied and divergent as its people. The turban and odhni fall united with each drape. There is revelry in cloth and embellishment. It takes all these factors and spins them into beautiful, original hybrid creations. We are overflowing with an abundant wealth of resources that all work together to create the style of India today.

Rickshaw ‘Laila Majnu ki Sawari’ By Payal Jain (for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, 2010)

Ms. Payal Jain has designed a Rickshaw ‘Laila Majnu ki Sawari’ at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, 2010 being held at pragati maidan gate no-8. Her rickshaw is put there on display. Below given is the concept of the Rickshaw designed by Ms. Payal Jain.

'Laila Majnu ki sawari'

The inspiration behind this eclectic vehicle is the age old love story of the two lovers, 'Laila and Majnu'. This is a tiny private honeymoon suite for lovers who spend their lives looking for places to spend time together in peace and privacy.

This vibrant, colorful, funky rickshaw embodies the spirit of love in India with its beautiful 'madhubani' canopy which talks of the various stages of love in one's life. This traditional art form originated in Bihar and since been an explicit representation of human feelings and emotions over the centuries. The kaleidoscope of primary and secondary hues speaks a truly global language despite it's completely Indian soul. The pop-art collage on the vinyl are what all Indians have grown up seeing on all public transport over the years, be it trucks, buses, richshaws or scooters. They represent the truly colorful, vivacious and relentless Indian spirit !! The gold embossed seat is the throne for the young and restless lovers and the gold and fushcia curtains can be drawn to provide a private moment.

The turquoise peacock at the front depicts Indian beauty at it's best.......royal, regal and grand in all it's resplendent beauty ! The colorful wheel and handle accessories are 'Old Delhi' inspired and add a touch of mad kitch to the tradition of rickshaw pulling and make the experience much more fun !! Don't miss the bell which is meant to clear the way for the lovers so nothing interrupts their joy love ride !! The small trunk at the back with wooden doors is for the honeymoon couple's belongings, so they don't loose them along the way.

Such is the ride of 'Laila and Majnu'. Come and join the fun and take a little ride to the world of dreams, the Indian way !!
